Description

Knife Scales / Blanks, Locally sourced, Mountain Mahogany Wood Root Burl Material.  These are rough cut to approx. 1/4" - 5/16" thick. I send enough material to make 2 pieces that are at a minimum of 2" x 5". You may receive two separate pieces OR a single piece that is large enough to cut into two pieces. The glossy images shown have been sanded to 220 grit and have had Epoxy poured on them.
This wood grows undergrounds on Mountain Mahogany Trees as a root bulb. When the Thomas fire burned through Santa Barbara these burnt underground and then when the flood occurred they were washed out of the hill sides and into the creeks, and went out to sea. The root burls then came back in as drift wood. I have many of these burls I use for wood turning and making knifes. This wood is very dense and hard. "Un-Obtainium", you will not find anything like this at the lumber store!
